The Prohibita Publishing House has been founded in December 2007. Its founder and owner is Paweł Toboła-Pertkiewicz, journalist and vice president of the Polish-American Foundation for Economic Research and Education.

Prohibita aims to issue books on politics, economics and history. Particularly important for our business is to promote free-market economy and persuading the Poles to the superiority of free-market capitalism over different forms of state interventionism.

As far now, we have published books belonging to the absolute classic of the free-market economical literature, inter alia, Leonard Read's famous essay, I, pencil, Great Myths of the Great Depression by Lawrence Reed, Freedom Under Siege by Ron Paul, New Zealand’s economic revival  byRichard Prebble, as well as the collection of essays from “The Freeman”  magazine, entitled The cliches of politics. But our most important book published so far surely is the two-volume collection of Frederic Bastiat’s works, modeled on the U.S. edition (The Bastiat Collection) released in 2007 by the Mises Institute.

Our another book, The moral superiority of free economy by Professor Michael Wojciechowski has recently won Sir Antony Fisher International Memorial Award in 2009. This book got also favouritism in Józef Mackiewicz Annual Prize in 2009 edition.

Our Publishing house also promote young scholars. We have published interesting master thesis on political and economy matters. Tymoteusz Juszczak, young scholar from University of Mikolaj Kopernik in Torun, wrote interesting work about economic miracle under Ludwig Erhard and other ordoliberalism representatives. Jacek Kacperski from University of Łódź wrote an introduction of Austrian School of Economy titled: Austrian School and Socialism.

In 2010 we restore famous conservative book written by Richard M. Weaver Ideas Has Consenquences and second book written by Professor Wojciechowski – Between Politics and Religion. Collection Essays.

We are interested in history. Until today we’ve published few books on this field. We have published two books written by PhD Piotr Gontarczyk (vide president of public education department in The Institute of National Remembrance), and also associations polish officer from Second World War and Anticommunism underground titled: Between Dźwina and Wilia Rivers. Associations of Polish Soldier.

We also start new series: Polish Freemarketers in XIX and XX Century. First book from this series will be published in December 2010 and it will be Julian Dunajewski Political Economy reprint from 1867. Next works written by polish scholars in the middle of ages, will be published in 2011.

In cooperation with Polish-American Foundation for Economic Research & Education we start preparation polish edition two other books: Fair Trade? Its Prospects as a Poverty Solution by Victor V. Clair. We finish translation of the Henry Hazlitt book Time Will Run Back.
